Based on a level I RCT comparing PRP and HA for Knee OA (most patients tested were reported with at K-L Grade III), at least 10 Billion platelets must be delivered in an 8 mL aliquot of PRP [1]. Furthermore, in vitro, PRP Dose-Response studies corroborate this finding by demonstrating the increased metabolic activity, especially at the 1M plt/uL dose [6]. Separator Device: Subtle changes to the design of the first tube simplifies processing significantly. Removing the pipe stops platelets sticking, does away with the need to flush the lines and prevents the pipe from potential kinks.

Concentrator Device: The second tube which concentrates the platelets into the pellet / buffycoat has also had a redesign. Again, the tubing has been replaced and the times and speeds have been revalidated to capture more platelets while simplifying processing.

The overall larger bore of the tubes (Separator Device + Concentrator Device) changes the physics of the cell separation which - combined with changes to the spin times and speed - allows us to capture a greater percentage of platelets.
